How to Buy: Choosing the Right Gauge

We offer two primary thicknesses to ensure your project is a success:

1. 36-Gauge (Light): About the thickness of a heavy-duty aluminum foil. It’s incredibly flexible and can be cut easily with household scissors or a utility knife. Perfect for wrapping furniture, scrapbooking, or detailed craft work.
2. 24-Gauge (Heavy): About the thickness of a credit card. This is much more rigid and durable. It’s the standard choice for countertops, backsplashes, and architectural accents. You can cut this with hand shears or tin snips.

DIY Tips for Success

• Adhesives: For most DIY projects, we recommend using a high-quality contact cement or Liquid Nails to bond your copper to wood or MDF.
• Sealing: If your copper will be in a high-traffic area (like a countertop or backsplash), we recommend applying a clear lacquer or epoxy coating to preserve the patina and protect it from wear.
• Handling: Our copper arrives extremely well-packed. Be careful when opening—avoid using a knife to open the plastic wrap so you don't scratch the artisan finish!
