Copper Bar Top
A patina copper bar top gives a home bar, basement or restaurant a finish guests remember. Every sheet is hand-finished in Kansas City, Missouri, so your bar is one of a kind. Here's everything you need to plan yours.
1. Choose your copper
There are two ways to build a copper bar top. Both use the same hand-applied patina finishes.
The method in our bar top video ↓
Light Gauge + Epoxy
Thin, flexible copper glued over your bar top and sealed under a clear epoxy pour for a glassy, durable finish.
- 36 gauge, easy to wrap around edges with a rubber J roller
- Cuts with regular household scissors
- Sheets up to 3'x20', long enough for most bars in one piece
- Adheres with spray-on contact cement
- Ships rolled; ready in 7–10 business days
Sturdier sheet
Heavy Gauge Sheets
A thicker, sturdier sheet for a bar top that's copper right to the surface.
- 24 gauge (22 mil)
- Cuts with metal shears or a grinder with a thin blade
- Sheets up to 4'x10'
- Installs with contact cement or liquid nails
- Satin lacquer standard; matte or no lacquer available
Both come in our full range of hand-applied patina finishes, plus raw copper. Not sure which is right for your bar? Call us at 913-205-3350.
Watch how it's done
Joel walks through a complete light gauge bar top, from bare wood to the finished bar:
- Spray contact cement on the bar top and the back of the copper.
- Lay the copper down and wrap the edges with a rubber J roller.
- Trim the excess with regular household scissors.
- Pour a clear epoxy coat over the top for a glassy, durable finish.
2. Finish the look
Copper Edge Trim
Wrap the front edge of the bar and any exposed corners with trim in the same finish. Available in lengths from 18" to 84".
3. Not sure which finish? Start with samples
Patina colors shift with your lighting, cabinets and surroundings. Order the sample pack with every finish, or single samples of the ones you're considering, and see them in your own space before you buy sheets.
Planning your bar top
- Measure the length and depth of the top, plus the front face and edges you'll wrap, then use the Copper Buying Guide calculator to see exactly which sheet sizes to order.
- Order one continuous sheet per run where you can. Light gauge goes up to 20' long; heavy gauge up to 10'.
- Add trim for the front edge and ends of the bar.
- Building for a restaurant or commercial space? Call us for custom sizes and lead times.
Shipping: Most orders ship rolled for protection. Large or commercial orders can ship flat in a custom-built crate. Call us to arrange.
